Pawprint | animal rescue podcast for dog, cat, and other animal lovers

You found us! We are Nancy and Harold Rhee, the hosts of Pawprint, an animal rescue podcast. We’ve been married 20 years, have fostered over 60 dogs, and we love the amazing people who dedicate their lives. And of course, the dogs, cats, and other animals! We have three dogs of our own – Nacho, Lego, and Evie.

The goal for Pawprint is simple – get inspired and do something. If you’re interested in helping animals, yourself, and your community, Pawprint is here to help! We hope you enjoy our podcast. After that, get inspired. Thanks!

Sincerely, Nancy and Harold – Pawprint

Nancy and Harold discuss fosters Cooper and Whisper, and highlight four amazing guests who are authors or writers from the Pawprint Animal Rescue Podcast. We have 18 guests who have either written a book or write as a profession.

Writing can be very personal. A way to reflect and to document something you experienced. Dr. Sarah Boston from episode 3, is a veterinary surgical oncologist at the University of Florida. Sarah is a cancer survivor herself and she shares a little bit of what she went through. Her journey would inspire her to write her book Lucky Dog.
Writing can be a way to go deeper into a topic you want to learn more about. Peter Zheutlin, our guest from episode 11, was a lawyer for several years before deciding to make the change to writing. He writes for magazines and has authored or co-authored several books. His latest is Rescue Road, and here Peter talks in great detail about Greg Mahle, who was a previous guest on our show as well.
Writing can be a way to bring your adult life and your childhood past together. Nina Huang attended Harvard for several years to get her doctorate, when she gave that up to become an artist. She discovered the wonderful world of greyhound rescue and wrote a children’s book inspired by that experience called My Apollo. In today’s segment she also shares some very personal stories of her own childhood.
Writing can bring enormous feeling to the bonds we have with our animals. Eileen Mitchell has this wonderful way of taking the mundane activities of living with her greyhound Elvis and showing the powerful beauty of the human-dog connection. Eileen wrote regularly for the San Francisco Chronicle and currently writes for her own blog called, “I didn’t see the asterisk.” Eileen shares about her writing life and reads one of her stories for us.
